Norman R. Angell
Norman R. Angell is a Shareholder. Mr. Angell practices in business law, real estate transaction and development law, and civil litigation.
Mr. Angell comes from a 30-year distinguished background at Chevron Corporation in business finance, business development, strategic planning, and acquisitions and divestitures of multi-million dollar domestic and international businesses. While serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Chevron Land and Development Company he was responsible for acquisition, sale, development and management of the company’s $700 Million commercial, industrial and residential real estate portfolio. The Chevron Land and Development Company was liquidated in several segments over a two year period as a result of a divestiture plan managed by Mr. Angell. He also was General Manager of the Business Planning and New Business Development Department of Chevron Chemical Company. While serving as International Vice President of Chevron Chemical International, Ltd., Mr. Angell developed and led the process to divest the Agricultural Chemical Division to interests in Japan, France, Germany, England and Brazil.
Mr. Angell has performed prestigious service within the environmental area, including serving as Chairman of the Board of the Chemical Industry Council of California and Vice-Chairman of the Lawrence Hall of Science Board of Advisors.
Mr. Angell obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and his Juris Doctor degree from San Mateo Law School. Mr. Angell is licensed with the California State Bar, admitted to the United States District Court, Northern and Eastern District, California, and the United States Tax Court.
Matthew S. Angell
Mr. Angell is a Shareholder in the firm and practices real property law, environmental law, business formation and development, and civil litigation.
Mr. Angell has guided many clients through the maze of purchase contracts, disclosures, leases, and the manner in which the title to the property is held. Furthermore, Mr. Angell has represented both buyers and sellers of residential real property with issues of escrow instructions and broker exposure and liability. Finally, Mr. Angell has represented both landlords and tenants in litigation to determine their rights and obligations under their respective leases.
Additionally, Mr. Angell has a special understanding of how environmental releases can affect the value of a property and the best methods for cleanup of foreign substances.
Mr. Angell works closely with all of our clients to ensure their business activities remain profitable and compliant with all Federal, State, and Local environmental statutes and ordinances, with emphasis in CERCLA, Proposition 65, and the Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund. Mr. Angell has extensive Court experience in nearly all aspects of civil litigation.
Mr. Angell obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of California at Irvine and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. While in law school, Mr. Angell interned with the San Francisco, California District Attorney, the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office, and the California Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Toxic Substances Control under the Assistant Chief Counsel.
